Chalk up another win for the ReplayTV
Ok, I hate to admit it, but I am the not so proud owner — actually renter — of a Scientific Atlanta 8000 HD DVR from Comcast. I broke down and got it for its ability to record High Definition broadcasts and the two integrated tuners. Of course, I still have my ReplayTV and prefer it over the SA DVR.
So last night I get home and get ready to watch American Idol on the SA DVR and I hear my wife scream from the computer:
I don’t think American Idol recorded — we got an email from Scientific Atlanta that it was accidently marked as a repeat episode!
Just our luck, I had setup American Idol to record new, first run episodes only and sure enough, the SA DVR had not recorded American Idol.
But in a stroke of genius (more likely tv related anal retentive insanity), I had also set the ReplayTV to record American Idol. So we both ran into the bedroom to check the ReplayTV and there it was waiting for us in the Replay Guide.
I thought to myself, “I love my ReplayTV — now when are they going to come out with a two tuner ReplayTV that can record HDTV so I can dump this stupid Scientific Atlanta piece of crap!”
