I'm not sure about the 8300HD MR acting as both a client and a server. I don't get the impression from the Scientific Atlanta website that it can -- at least not yet with the current software. Plus, I'm sure that even if it can, our wonderful cable companies will be sure to charge a much higher price for the main 8300HD than they will for the additional client only units.

I wonder: can a 8300HD MR unit act as both a client and a server? If so, you'd get a bit closer to the RTV capability. You still couldn't schedule a recording on another box or pick up a show from where you've left off, but you would be able to record locally in diferent locations, which is a help when multiple shows are on at the same time. You'll need it next Fall when Survivor, Joey, Alias, The OC, Smallville and Everyone Hates Chris (the new Chris Rock series) are all on opposite each other.
