The Supreme Court File Sharing Decision – Is Poopli Doomed?

Now that the Supreme Court has Ruled that companies providing file sharing technology and services can be held liable if their users share copyrighted media, what is the future of services like Poopli?

From what I have read so far, the ruling does say that the company must encourage their users to break copyright laws. How will this be decided? From the Poopli about page:

Basically this site is a place where fellow replay users can post shows in an orderly fashion and get notified via email when the show request has been responded to.

From reading this, it could be decided that Poopli is encouraging their users to share TV shows that are copyrighted, which a court could decide is breaking current copyright laws.

This is not good — if I can record a show with my ReplayTV and not be breaking copyright laws, why can’t I get this show from somebody else’s ReplayTV if mine failed to record it for some reason (power outage, programming conflict, etc.). And, why should a company or individual that facilitates this service (such as Poopli), be held responsible for the actions of people they can not control.

Especially in the case of Grokster and Kazaa, this is the equivalent of holding gun manufacturers liable for criminals who use their guns to commit murder.
