Building a MythTV Box
Matthew Gast has posted part one in his series on Building a MythTV Box. This is the first article in a series that he is writing for the O’Reilly Digital Media Website.
Part one focuses on the selection of hardware for his MythTV box and the initial installation and setup of the hardware he has chosen. It’s interesting to note that the main problem he seems to have with the hardware components is the noise level. This has been one of my main reservations about building my own DVR based on free software such as MythTV. Although there are many quite PC components available, the cost of putting together a system that is silent (or as close to silent as you can get) starts to get expensive very fast.
This will be a good series to follow — and I think that I may be finally motivated to try building my own MythTV box — assuming that I can afford the quiet components!
