Family Guy Most Recorded Show

Long Live the Griffins!

Family Guy, the little show that could, has topped the Tivo Most-Recorded Shows List for the week ending 08/21/05. This list is based on anonymous season pass rankings data that is gathered by Tivo from their subscribers units. It’s interesting that this occurred during a week that all the Family Guy episodes on FOX were repeats. I wonder if this is Tivo users recording repeats so they can copy the shows to their PC and burn to DVD so they can compile the entire season on DVD.

Hopefully, this will teach FOX a lesson – they need to give their new shows a fighting chance to survive! Leading up to its initial cancellation, FOX treated Family Guy like the “red headed step child” of their schedule. It was bounced around from night to night and was never given a chance to gain an audience and ratings. Looking back, we all now know that cancelling Family Guy was a huge mistake. Maybe, this will cause FOX to give some other shows they have prematurely cancelled a second chance.

If I had to vote for one FOX show to bring back, it would be Fastlane. Another FOX show that was never given a chance to survive, they even ended the season with a “to be continued” cliffhanger! There were obviously plans for the next season and I’m sure the shows writers already knew where they were going with the show.

Like all TV Shows, Fastlane will be released on DVD, and when it is I hope it is as successful as Family Guy and FOX revives this great show.

Long Live Fastlane?

I lauged my butt off when it came back on the air and Peter went through about a minute listing off the shows that had come and gone on Fox since they were “cancelled”. :)
