Another Free Tivo – This Time for Nurses
Another offer in the continuing trend of free Tivo giveaways, Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Boston is offering a free Tivo and one year of Tivo service to nurses who take a job there for at least 24 hours a week and have one year experience. The idea is that nurses work very irregular schedules and odd hours and having a Tivo will allow them to watch the TV shows they want when their work schedule allows and not just when they are home.
While this is an interesting idea, I’m not sure it’s really going to help the hospital attract new nurses. A free Tivo as a signing bonus seems a little lame (even if it is appropriate) especially since there have been so many free Tivo offers lately that don’t require you to take a new job. And even though the hospital might think that having a Tivo will stop some nurses from calling in sick when the finale of American Idol is on, I don’t think there are too many nurses out there that place a TV show above their job — and if they do, I’m not sure I would want them treating me.

[...] I’m not sure this is such a great deal. Unless you’re really short on cash, you are probably better off just buying one outright for $49.99 — or maybe taking a job as a nurse and getting one for free! [...]
