How to connect a ReplayTV to Your Wireless Network
ReplayTV units come with built in networking, but only a wired ethernet connection. If the ReplayTV is on the other side of the house and you want to connect it to your wireless network for guide updates, there is a simple solution.
All you need is a Wireless Ethernet Bridge that will connect any wired ethernet device to a wireless network. Products such as the D-Link DWL-810+ Ethernet to Wireless Bridge for 802.11b networks and the Linksys WET54G Wireless Ethernet Bridge for 802.11g networks will connect your ReplayTV to your wireless network. It’s as simple as plugging the ethernet cable into the ReplayTV and the Wireless Ethernet Bridge. That’s usually all you have to do. You can now get your guide updates for your ReplayTV over the Internet via your wireless network — it doesn’t need to be connected to a phone line anymore!
This solution works great for getting daily guide updates, but if you want to stream recorded shows from your ReplayTV to your computer or another ReplayTV, this doesn’t always work. If you have a 802.11g wireless network it might work, but it’s still hit or miss. For streaming video, your best bet is still a wired ethernet connection.
