VuGo Launches Download Service - Spongebob Squarepants To Go
Hasbro has officialy launched their TV Show download service for their new portable video player, The VuGo. Since the VuGo is aimed at children, so is the library of shows available for download. Initially, it includes TV Shows from Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon, including Johnny Bravo and the ever popular Spongebob Squarepants.
Even though Hasbro is marketing the VuGo as an Video iPod for Kids, it looks interesting to me. The unit itself includes a 3″ color backlit screen and 128MB internal memory for storage and it will actually function somewhat as a portable DVR. It can be hooked up to the video and audio outputs of just about any source (such as a cable box) and it can record what is coming into it to be played back on the road. The VuGo also comes with a windows application for transferring video, mp3s, and photos to the VuGo from your computer. All for about $100 — not bad.
Even though the downloads available from Hasbro will be mainly for kids, The VuGo could possibly make for a nice and cheap portable DVR — hook it up to your cable box and press record and you’ve got TV To Go!

I bought this VUGO about a few days ago. My reason for buying it is my job is to set up a stranding line for fiber optica cables and watch it to make sure no materials run out. These runs can last from 10 minutes to 6 hours. I work 12 hrs shifts this seemed like a solution to keep me entertained. The video doesn’t look like what you would think. I converted some of my personal dvds. They come out kinda crappy with a resolution of about 144×80 which some cell phones have better resolution. My verdict is if you have really nothing else better to do you would sit and watch it other wise there are players out there that have better resolution for half the price. My cost $120 for the vugo $10 for rechargeable AAA $10 for case $65 for 512 SD card. (holds about 4 movies)

I am sorry but Chris you stupid in the first place for buying a VuGo for $120 and a memory card for $65. My Vugo cost $99.99 and the memory card cost $60 for twice the 1GB instead of for 512mb.My memory card cost $5 less than yours and still got twice as much memory. You paid $25 more than i did not including the batteries or the case. The sound and graphics is really that bad it is not the best but it is not the worst either.

I have ownd the VUGO for two months, and am pleased with its performance. I use it primarily for watching movies
from my personal video collection. The Vugo has good video resolution (compared to a 56K computer video feed). In fact, the easiest way to improve the resolution of the Vugo is to view it from a distance of 2 1/2 to three feet from your eyess, insteasd of up close! By the way, resolution refers to the number of lines that the video can display per second. For example a hi-definition TV will display over 1000 lines per second, a normal tv will display about 500-700 lines, depending upon its circuit quality. My guess is that the Vugo displays somewhere in the neighborhood of 300-500 lines of resolution, at a slower frame speed, thus the audio lags the picture movement by about a half second. In terms of portability, the VUGO is hard to beat. I bought the protective case to keep it from suffering undue wear and tear. The case has slotted pockets for 3 SD (Secure Data) cards, which you must purchase separately. Depending upond the storage capacity of the card, and the video recording quality that you select, it is possible to carry 15 to 30 movies on 3 SD (1GB) cards, and the whole unit will fit in your shirt pocket! Try that with DVDs or VHS tapes! If the Vugo is to be considered as a ‘toy’, it must be considered as a very sophisticated toy, that would have made James Bond(007) proud , if ‘Q’ had developed it for him.

Dang! they have the Vugo @ walmart in Virginia for only 25 dollars, it used to be 50 dollars, where did u all come from. hasbro world, and i filed complaints with all the hasbro products i had. they suck
