The Academy Awards Brought To You By TiVo
For everyone who has a TiVo, here’s your chance to cast your vote for the Academy Awards and possibly win a 60GB Video iPod! TiVo is currently running their Golden Statuette Contest where TiVo Series 2 owners will be able to submit their picks for the Academy Awards. By making your picks on your TiVo, you are automatically entered in the contest to win the Video iPod.
You will need to have your TiVo connected to a network (not sure why, but on the TiVo blog this is listed as a requirement) and you have to make your votes by Sunday, March 5th at 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time (right before the Oscars start). The winner will be the person who has the highest number of correct picks. But be sure to vote soon — in the case of a tie, the user who voted first will be the winner!

It is being done as an HME application, so it is really running on a server at TiVo (or somewhere on the net anyway) and just displaying on the TiVo. Just like the Yahoo, Fandango, Live365, games apps, etc. That’s why you have to be on broadband.
