Long winded, overblown, and unnecessarily drawn out scheduling alert: The Academy Awards (Oscars), as usual, will hold true to form Sunday night and run way beyond it’s scheduled ending time. With all of the actors who seem to get diarrhea of the mouth after winning an Oscar and have to thank every person that they have ever met, it’s a sure bet that the running time will go over by at least 30 – 60 minutes.
So, for everyone who is recording the Oscars on their DVR (ReplayTV, TiVo, etc.), make sure to manually add at least one hour to your scheduled recording of the Academy Awards. And don’t forget that there is an added benefit to not watching the Oscars live — you can fast forward through the acceptance speeches!

For everyone who has a TiVo, here’s your chance to cast your vote for the Academy Awards and possibly win a 60GB Video iPod! TiVo is currently running their Golden Statuette Contest where TiVo Series 2 owners will be able to submit their picks for the Academy Awards. By making your picks on your TiVo, you are automatically entered in the contest to win the Video iPod.
You will need to have your TiVo connected to a network (not sure why, but on the TiVo blog this is listed as a requirement) and you have to make your votes by Sunday, March 5th at 5:00 PM Pacific Standard Time (right before the Oscars start). The winner will be the person who has the highest number of correct picks. But be sure to vote soon — in the case of a tie, the user who voted first will be the winner!
